The Wolastoqey Tribal Council (WTCI) is a not-for-profit organization whose role is to provide capacity building opportunities for its five member communities within New Brunswick (Matawaskiye, Wotstak, Bilijk, Sitansisk and Welamukotuk), in the areas of: Health, Education, Training/Employment, Governance, Sports and Emergency Management. Our team's mission is to support and empower communities by addressing needs through collaborative initiatives and culturally sensitive approaches.
Overview:
The Housing and Infrastructure Coordinator, reporting to the Nikhanatpat/Executive Director, plays a key role in supporting and building capacity for housing programs within our member communities. This position is responsible for coordinating housing-related initiatives, providing technical expertise, and offering guidance to ensure the upkeep and development of sustainable housing solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and provide training, guidance, and support in managing housing programs, housing stock, and associated infrastructure to WTCI member communities
Provide technical expertise and guidance on the management of housing stock, ensuring the upkeep and sustainability of housing infrastructure.
Offer support for housing project development and management, including construction, renovation, and upgrades.
Advise on compliance with relevant building codes, standards, and energy efficiency measures to ensure safe and environmentally conscious housing solutions.
Ensure housing projects and operations adhere to fire code and safety standards, mitigating risks and promoting the health and safety of community members.
Collaborate with communities to deliver safe, sustainable, and efficient housing programs tailored to the unique needs of each community.
Assist in identifying and addressing housing challenges while promoting programs that integrate cultural, environmental, and economic considerations.
Travel to WTCI communities and other engagements as necessary.
Qualifications:
Diploma or Bachelor's degree is not necessary for this position, please demonstrate within your cover letter any experience/certifications that you aligns with this position.
Certificate(s) in housing inspection or construction-related trades will be considered an asset.
Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams...)
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and governing bodies as they relate to housing management on reserve/in New Brunswick considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
The successful candidate must have regular access to a vehicle.

The working location for his position may be a hybrid.
Remuneration is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Wolastoqey Tribal Council Inc. offers competitive salary and benefits to our employees. Working location is 35 Dedham Street, Sitansisk (Fredericton New Brunswick).
