Housekeeping Supervisor

Location: The Explorer Hotel, Yellowknife, NT Reports To: Executive Housekeeper Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary:

The Housekeeping Supervisor at The Explorer Hotel plays a hands-on leadership role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and guest satisfaction throughout the property. This position supports the Executive Housekeeper by overseeing daily housekeeping operations, assisting with scheduling, and actively participating in cleaning tasks across guest rooms, public areas, and laundry services. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to delivering exceptional service in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform and supervise daily guest room cleaning, ensuring rooms meet hotel standards for cleanliness and presentation Lead and assist with room deep cleans, including furniture, fixtures, and high-touch surfaces Support laundry operations, including sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens Clean and maintain public areas such as lobbies, hallways, elevators, and restrooms Respond to guest complaints and concerns with professionalism and urgency, ensuring timely resolution Conduct room and area inspections to verify cleanliness and readiness Assist with staff scheduling, shift coordination, and task assignments Train and mentor housekeeping staff, ensuring adherence to safety and operational protocols Safely handle and manage cleaning chemicals in accordance with WHMIS and hotel safety standards Maintain inventory of supplies and report shortages or equipment issues Ensure all team members complete required training and follow cleanliness procedures Collaborate with the Executive Housekeeper to improve workflow, efficiency, and guest satisfaction Perform other duties as assigned to support hotel operations

Qualifications and Physical Requirements:

Previous experience in housekeeping or hospitality supervision preferred Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Ability to lift, carry, and move objects up to 30 lbs Comfortable with extended periods of standing, walking, and physical activity, including pushing carts and operating vacuums Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and safety protocols Must complete assigned training and adhere to health and safety standards * Local candidates preferred
