Job Summary:
The
Housekeeping Supervisor
is responsible for overseeing daily housekeeping operations to maintain high cleanliness standards in guest rooms and public areas, exceeding guest expectations. This role involves managing room assignments, inspecting rooms, coordinating with the front desk and maintenance, and providing training and support to housekeeping staff. A key aspect of the role is driving the smooth operation of the housekeeping department while fostering a positive, motivated team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Housekeeping Operations:
"Open and start daily housekeeping operations, assigning tasks to room attendants, distributing keys. At the end of the shift, ensure all rooms are cleaned, inspected, and properly logged in the housekeeping system.
Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms and public areas to ensure cleanliness and adherence to hotel standards.
Report any deficiencies in rooms (e.g., maintenance issues) to the maintenance team and document them in the Maestro system.
The primary responsibility is to inspect cleanliness and the proper functioning of room amenities, to ensure they meet guest expectations and hotel standards.
Supervise the cleaning and maintenance of public areas, including restrooms, boiler rooms, closets, and other shared spaces.
Guest Services & Coordination:
Ensure a focus on delivering
high standards of guest service
at all times, addressing guest requests or concerns promptly and professionally.
Manage Lost & Found items, accurately logging them in the Shared Logbook. Ensure the front desk is kept informed with up-to-date details about lost and found items, particularly at guest check-out.
Maintain clear and open communication with the front desk to ensure that all guest preferences and requests are met efficiently.
Staff Management & Support:
Provide training and follow-up for new or inexperienced housekeeping staff to ensure they understand and meet hotel standards.
Motivate the housekeeping team, offering support and assistance, especially when they need help cleaning rooms.
Team Collaboration:
Ensure open communication between housekeeping, the front desk, and maintenance to ensure timely room readiness and resolve any issues that arise during the day.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong communication skills, including the ability to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
Proficiency in reading and writing in English.
An ability to lead by example and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with hotel management software (such as WebRezPro or similar property management systems) is highly desirable.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional training in hospitality or management is an asset.
Experience: At least 1 year of experience in housekeeping or a related position. Supervisory experience or experience as a room attendant is preferred.
Grooming:
All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance in accordance with Canmore Inn & Suites standards.
