POSITION OVERVIEW



Housekeeping, reporting to the Director of Child Care and Facilities, are responsible for light cleaning duties to support quality program and services. The YMCA of Fredericton operates a 60,000-square foot full accessible facility featuring a Wellness Centre, 25 meter pool, therapeutic pool, full gymnasium, fitness studio, cycling studio licensed childcare and outdoor playgrounds, 3 locker rooms and numerous classroom facilities.

Service, clean, and supply locker rooms, public restrooms, etc.

Laundering of towels.

Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and/or vacuuming.

Steam-clean or shampoo carpets.

Gather and empty trash.

Clean and polish fixtures.

Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.

Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.

Set-up and take down of rooms in a timely manner.

Actively participates in scheduled programs, meetings and special events.

In collaboration with individual program members, program volunteers and YMCA program staff, assists and encourages program members to access additional appropriate programs offered at this location.

General YMCA Responsibilities



Demonstrates appropriate behaviours in line with our mission, vision and values as reflected in our YMCA competencies; takes a member focused approach to increase their understanding of programs offered across the association. Represents the YMCA and the association in a professional manner.

Understands the legal responsibilities and moral imperative to report suspected child abuse to Child Protection Services.

Understands the importance of the volunteer staff partnership and integrates the value of philanthropy and volunteerism in dealings with members, volunteers, donors and staff.

Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications



16 years old (minimum age).

Previous experience in housekeeping is an asset.

Workplace Standard First Aid is an asset.

Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) certification is an asset.

Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication (verbal & written) with members, staff and volunteers.

Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of members including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity.

Flexibility regarding assigned hours of work - early mornings, days, evenings and weekends.

Note: Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Screening and proof of certifications, if applicable. Employees will be required to complete online YMCA Child Protection Training.

Job Types: Part-time, Full-time

Pay: $16.40-$16.90 per hour
