SUMMARY
Shepherds of Good Hope is one of the largest not-for-profit organizations dedicated to meeting the needs of homeless and vulnerably-housed individuals in the city of Ottawa. Many individuals who access our programs and services live with trauma, mental health challenges and addictions. A leader in supportive housing and harm-reduction, Shepherds of Good Hope provides around-the-clock, comprehensive services to both women and men in multiple locations across the city. This position is for our Hope Living Residence, located at 145 Castlefrank Road, in Kanata. Reporting to the Manager of Hope Living, this role provides care services to the residents at this housing program.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for personal laundry for residents and the house linens
Sweeps, mops, polishes and refinishes resident floors, vacuums and shampoos carpeted areas, dumps garbage and recycle bins, performs all cleaning aspects of halls, offices, board rooms, restrooms and lunchrooms as well as washes walls, windows and upholstered furniture as assigned
Vacuums carpeting, draperies and upholstered furniture
Cleans resident's rooms in accordance to organizational standards
Cleans, disinfects and polishes kitchen and bathroom fixtures and appliances
Cleans and disinfects elevators
Picks up debris and empties trash containers
Cleans showers
Maintains cleaning equipment
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma
Previous cleaning experience
Ability to work well with others and work in the presence of residents
Time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision
Strong attention to detail
Has empathy for the residents of Hope Living
Works and adheres to health and safety policy and procedures
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Must by at least 18 years of age
Able to lift up to 25kg and work mechanical equipment
Able to read, text and communicate orally in English.
Ability to communicate in other languages is considered an asset.
For successful candidates:
A recent vulnerable sector check completed at maximum 3 months prior to employment offer.
Health and Safety Training completed during onboarding and updated annually.
