Job Description

Reports to: General Manager

Qualifications:

1. Previous housekeeping experience, preferably in hospitality or a retirement home.

Previous employment in a health care/hospitality setting an asset. Demonstrated understanding of/empathy for the needs of the elderly.
4. Ability to speak, read and write English. Must be able to follow oral and written directions and to do simple arithmetic calculations.

Job Requirements:

1. Police Record Check (as per RHA), including VSC

2. Immunization as per home's policy, if applicable

3. TB Testing

Physical Demands:

1. Standing for extended periods of time - for up to 8hrs/day.

2. Walking short distances and manoeuvring in tight spaces within resident suites.

3. Pulling/pushing/bending/lifting cleaning carts, chemical pails, etc., up to 50lbs.

4. Reaching to upper shelving - at times with use of an 18inch to 3ft step ladder.

5. Repetitive arm and upper body motions in intervals for periods of up to 8hrs for sweeping, wiping.

6. Working in warm temperatures for extended periods of time.

7. Some memory work required to know Residents and preferences.

Responsibilities:

1. Maintain a clean, safe environment in the residence.

2. Work as a member of a team with all other residence personnel.

3. Be knowledgeable of and practice residence's fire and safety programs.

:

1. Clean, dust and vacuum residents' bedrooms and public areas of the residence, i.e., lounges, corridors and elevators.

2. Clean and sanitize residents' bathroom and all washrooms in the residence, including all fixtures, tiles, floors, vanity and mirrors.

3. Clean rooms vacated by residents and prepare rooms for incoming residents.

4. Collect refuse from residents' rooms and other areas of the residence and dispose of this refuse in accordance with set procedures.

5. Clean and organize outdoor and patio furniture.

6. Water and care for plants in the residence.

7. Clean and restock housekeeping cart.

8. Report malfunctions in equipment and repairs needed to Environmental Department through the Maintenance Memo Book.

9. Notify Housekeeping Manager when housecleaning suppliers are low.

: Risk Management and General Safety

1. Partners with community team to ensure community is in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements and promotion of Risk Management programs and/or policies; adherence to safety rules and regulations.

2. Practices safety procedures at all times including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), fire safety procedures including extinguishers (as applicable), SDSs (Safety Data Sheets) and Lockout Tagout procedures.

3. Reports all accidents/incidents immediately.

4. Reports all unsafe and hazardous conditions/equipment immediately.

5. Complies with all infection control techniques, placement of biohazard containers and removal techniques, procedures and policies.

6. Participates in Fire Safety and Mock Disaster procedures.
