Kinnect Support Services is a trusted social services partner providing relief staffing to agencies, organizations, and institutions supporting adolescents, youth, adults, and seniors with behavioral, emotional, physical, and psychiatric challenges. Our mission is to deliver skilled, compassionate, and dependable support in a wide range of care environments.

Position Overview:


For the next couple of weeks, we are searching for someone to stay in one of our homes with refugee families approximately

3-4 nights a week

. House Mentors live on-site, with a

private bedroom

and shared kitchen and bathroom. Shift hours are somewhat flexible, but we prefer candidates who can sleep over at least twice a week. Example shifts include:

6:00 PM - 12:00 AM 8:00 PM - 6:00 AM 5:00 PM - 11:00 PM 9:00 PM - 7:00 AM
The House Mentor plays a crucial role in fostering a welcoming, safe, and inclusive community. This role involves maintaining household cleanliness, overseeing resident well-being, and providing guidance to help residents transition successfully.

Key Responsibilities:



Foster a community atmosphere that is inclusive of all faiths, gender identities, sexual orientations, ethnicities, races, and abilities. Spend time with residents, monitoring their well-being and supporting personal growth. Collaborate with the Operations Manager and Settlement staff to report concerns. Oversee house hygiene, cleanliness, and maintenance. Ensure household security and report maintenance needs. Facilitate weekly house meetings and community nights. Support residents in achieving personal goals and transitioning out of the home. Address disciplinary or behavioral concerns with the appropriate manager.

Qualifications:


Education & Experience:



Diploma in

Social Service Work (SSW)

. Previous experience living communally or running a household is an asset. Experience working with youth and/or property maintenance is desirable. Friendly, confident, and pro-refugee disposition. Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills. Trauma-informed approach and ability to work independently. Proficiency with computers (Word, email, video conferencing). Valid Ontario driver's license is an asset. WHMIS training is helpful.

Other Requirements:



Must undergo Vulnerable Sector Screening. Certain house staples and supplies are provided for shared use. Rent-free accommodation may be available in exchange for volunteer support.
