Overview



The House Lead provides day-to-day leadership within the residence while working scheduled shifts as a Direct Service Professional. This role supports consistency, quality of care, and team functioning through presence, guidance, and communication. The House Lead does not replace the House Manager and does not hold formal HR, disciplinary, or financial authority.

Team Leadership and Support



Act as the

on-shift lead

for Direct Service Professionals, providing guidance, clarification, and support throughout the shift. Model best practices in person-centered support, documentation, professional conduct, and implementation of behaviour and crisis protocols. Support new and existing staff through informal coaching, mentoring, and real-time feedback during shifts. Assist staff in problem-solving day-to-day challenges related to individual support, routines, and community activities. Identify concerns related to staff performance, safety, or training needs and communicate them to the House Manager in a timely manner. Promote a respectful, collaborative, and supportive team environment on shift.

Coordination of Daily Operations



Support the coordination of daily routines, programming, and community activities to ensure consistency with Individual Support Plans. Assist with organizing shift priorities to meet individual needs while maintaining safety and structure in the home. Monitor completion of assigned tasks during shifts, including personal care routines, medication administration, meal preparation, and household responsibilities. Serve as a point of contact for staff during shifts when questions or issues arise.

Communication and Reporting



Provide regular shift updates to the House Manager regarding individual well-being, incidents, staffing concerns, and operational issues. Ensure accurate, timely, and thorough documentation is completed by staff, including daily logs, incident reports, and communication records. Support clear communication between staff, families, placement workers, and management by relaying information as directed by the House Manager. Escalate concerns, risks, or incidents promptly to the House Manager or on-call designate as required.

Quality, Compliance, and Consistency



Support staff adherence to Behaviour Support Plans, crisis protocols, Quality Assurance Measures (QAM), and organizational policies. Assist with tracking goal progress and ensuring documentation related to Plans of Care is completed within required timelines. Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and planning discussions as required. Support a consistent approach to care across shifts by reinforcing expectations and routines.
