Job Description

The Continuing Education Department of Champlain College Saint-Lambert requires the services of an HOURLY INSTRUCTOR to teach the course SUPPORTING THE CHILD'S OVERALL DEVELOPMENT I (350-223-LA).
The two courses on overall child development are segmented according to domains of development. The course entitled Support the Child's Overall Development I aims to recognize the main manifestations of physical, motor, and cognitive development in children aged 0 to 12. It also introduces the basic conceptual notions of development, i.e., overall development, the zone of proximal development, and the main issues in a child's development. By the end of the course, students will understand and support the child's overall development, be able to accurately understand the complementary areas of child development; accurately recognize the basic and developmental needs of the child and accurately recognize the child's specific needs where applicable, while following professional ethics.
Required Qualifications :
Must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in psychology or a related discipline and 2 years of teaching experience. Teaching experience in Early Childhood Education or a related program such as Child Studies, Child Development, Social Work, or similar fields such as Special Education and Family Support and Life Studies is an asset. This course is taught in English; proficiency in English is required. Teaching experience with an adult clientele is strongly recommended.
