Job Description

The Continuing Education Department of Champlain College Saint-Lambert requires the services of an HOURLY INSTRUCTOR to teach the course HEALTH AND SAFETY IN EDUCATIONAL CHILDCARE SETTINGS (322-194-LA).
This course is offered in the first semester to quickly establish the main theoretical and practical benchmarks for children's health and safety. It is offered concurrently with the course Introduction to the Profession to introduce the main concepts related to the profession at the same time. By the end of the course, students will be able to identify risks to children's health and safety in the context of educational childcare services and intervene in everyday situations, emergency situations, and situations of mistreatment, while preserving their own physical and psychological integrity. Students will also reflect on their own personal needs in the workplace while diligently observing and considering the well-being of an individual child or a group of children while adhering to professional ethics.
Required Qualifications :
Must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related discipline and 2 years of teaching experience, or a DEC in Early Childhood Education or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years of work experience in a daycare setting. Teaching experience in early childhood education or a related program such as Child Studies or another field related to Early Care & Learning Issues (i.e. health, safety and nutrition) is an asset. Being familiar with different intervention approaches is strongly recommended. This course is taught in English; proficiency in English is required. Teaching experience with an adult clientele is strongly recommended.

The schedule and course dates may change based on the needs of the program and subject to enrollment.
This course is taught in English. The selected incumbent will be required to work in English.
