Job Description

The Continuing Education Department of Champlain College Saint-Lambert requires the services of an HOURLY INSTRUCTOR to teach the course INTRODUCTION TO THE EARLY CHILDHOOD PROFESSION (322-133-LA).
This course, offered in the first semester, is an introduction to the main foundations of the profession. The aim is to familiarize students with the main laws and regulations, the job function, the tasks, the central, day-to[1]day role played by the program or educational project, as well as working conditions. The course explores Quebec's network of educational childcare services, raising awareness of the crucial role played by educators, and providing an initial space for reflection on professional identity, the skills to be developed, the attitudes required, and so on. By the end of the course, students will be able to situate themselves in relation to their career choice, describe the various educational childcare services in Quebec as well as be able to implement appropriate use of terminology, develop an initial reflective view of the profession and have an accurate recognition of the importance of professional ethics in the early childhood practice.
Required Qualifications :
Must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related discipline and 2 years of teaching experience, or a DEC in Early Childhood Education or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years of work experience in a daycare setting. Teaching experience in Early Childhood Education or a related program such as Child Studies and/or Pedagogical Consultancy with various CPE's are assets. This course is taught in English; proficiency in English is required. Teaching experience with an adult clientele is strongly recommended.
