Job Description

The Continuing Education department of Champlain College Saint-Lambert requires the services of an HOURLY INSTRUCTOR to teach the course Navigating Youth (351-406-LA).
This course explores the complexities of working with young people who face various social and behavioral challenges. Students will learn to accurately identify the manifestations of social maladjustments, reactive attachment disorder, conduct disorder, and oppositional defiant disorder. The course emphasizes understanding the impact these issues have on the development and functioning of young people. Students will also assess the adaptive potential of both the young person and their family, developing a comprehensive profile of strengths and difficulties. The course guides students in selecting effective intervention methods aimed at promoting empowerment. This includes strategies for enhancing family dynamics, managing emotions, improving social skills, building self-esteem, fostering accountability, and offering relevant resources to support the youth and their families.
Required Qualifications :
Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related discipline and 2 years teaching experience. Teaching experience in special care counselling or a related program such as counselling, social work, or clinical psychology is an asset. Experience working with youth in the special care counselling field is strongly recommended. This course is taught in English; proficiency in English is required.
