This position is for a full-time / permanent commitment.
The hours and days of work include all shifts including weekends and holidays.
The successful candidate will perform regular checks of the hotel, the commercial tenant areas and all public areas. Dealing with the public will be frequent and a high level of professional communication is required. Unsafe conditions will be reported and made safe at all times. Walking several hours per day is required.
Report writing requires detailed, explanation of events. Monitoring of CCTV and back-up of video is required. This position coordinates many functions in the building including: Lost and Found, Freight Elevator operation, Calling out for building services, checking mechanical areas and reporting anomalies.
Duties and areas of responsibility include but not limited to:
Ensuring security and safety of all property, commercial tenants, guests and employees
Patrols of the complex looking for safety concerns and assisting in guest satisfaction needs by ensuring noise levels in guestrooms do not disturb others.
Ensuring Lost and Found items are logged and sent back to guests upon their request.
Correcting and reporting of fire hazards, health and safety hazards
Operating as a member of the Emergency Response Team
Investigating and reporting on occurrences of accidents, complaints, criminal activity, and crisis situations
Control, staff, and monitor hotel access points
Responding to all alarms- perimeter doors, panic alarms, etc...
Knowledge and application of Municipal, Provincial, and Federal statutes with attention to the Trespass to Property Act
Key control involving departmental audits using the Keywatcher system and follow-up on overdue keys.
Inspect and replenish first aid kits, monthly fire extinguisher and hose cabinet inspections.
Other duties as directed by the Director of Safety and Loss Prevention and/or Supervisor
Previous Security experience in a public facility or Hospitality background is preferred.
Candidates should be aware that this is an active position with many periods of walking while on patrol of the facility. Approximately 60% walking, 40% sitting/report writing and monitoring cameras.
Candidates with current Standard First Aid and CPR certification is preferred.
