Job Overview:


We are seeking a friendly and organized host to join our team. As a host, you will be the first point of contact for our guests, providing excellent customer service and creating a welcoming atmosphere. The host will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth flow of operations in our restaurant. You will be responsible for greeting guests, maintaining a clean and tidy restaurant, controlling the flow of the restaurant, managing reservations, and overseeing the efficient and correct delivery of food orders from the kitchen to the dining area, delivery drivers and takeout customers. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities. The host will maintain a strong working knowledge of all menus, daily specials and events, and comply with all restaurant policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:



Greeting and Seating Guests: Welcome guests as they arrive, provide them with menus, and escort them to their tables in a courteous and efficient manner. Manage reservations and seating arrangements to optimize table turnover and ensure a positive dining experience. Coordinating with Servers and Kitchen Staff: Act as a liaison between the front-of-house and back-of-house teams. Communicate food orders accurately to the kitchen and ensure timely preparation and delivery of dishes. Coordinate with servers to ensure that food is delivered to the correct tables promptly. Takeout: Efficiently and accurately pack up takeout orders and ensure the accuracy delivery to the appropriate table, delivery driver or takeout customer. Manager prep times and inventory levels on our delivery platforms. Inspect food orders to ensure accuracy, presentation, and quality before they are served to guests. Verify that each dish meets our standards and specifications, and address any discrepancies or issues promptly. Monitor the flow of guests and manage wait times during peak hours. Keep guests informed about the status of their tables and provide them with estimated wait times when necessary. Respond to guest inquiries, concerns, and special requests in a professional and courteous manner. Provide information about menu items, events, specials, and restaurant policies as needed. Ensure that the host stand, dining area and kitchen are clean, organized, and properly stocked at all times. Assist with cleaning duties and side work as needed to maintain a tidy and welcoming environment for guests. Attend meetings and training courses as required. Be continually aware of and maintain the highest standards of personal hygiene and dress. Complete all on-the-job and health and safety training. Take part in any fire or evacuation drills and ensure complete familiarization with all exits, including those normally used by customers, as well as fire escapes. At all times to be aware of and practice good customer service, assisting the guest in any way which does not adversely affect other customers. Ensure that customers are correctly charged, present the bill and take payment from the customer, in accordance with the procedures of the establishment. Answer phone calls and provide information to callers, as well as, facilitate takeout orders over the phone. Ensure table decorations are clean and comply with company standards. Set and change tables to company policy, ensuring that all items used are clean, undamaged and in a good state of repair.

Requirements



Strong customer service experience. Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment. Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. Able to work well under pressure. Strong attention to detail. Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times. Professional appearance and manners. Strong work ethic and positive team attitude. Ability to adapt to technological changes with point of sale systems, reservation systems, etc.

Working Conditions



Ability to stand for long periods of time. Manual dexterity required to use devices, equipment and peripherals. Lifting or moving up to 20lbs may be required. Ability to move with urgency / walk fast. Willingness to work beyond scheduled time as business requires. Ability to work indoors and outdoors as the seasons change.
