Welcome to your new favourite job! It's an opportunity to join a one-of-a-kind team as we open enter our second winter with our modern tasting and sampling room right in the heart of downtown Winnipeg! Be one of the first to work in this unique lounge that is ideally located two blocks from the Canada Life Centre, one block from True North Square, as well as close to many other nearby venues and amenities. The positions are in preparation for a busy fall and winter season ahead, as the weather outside becomes too unbearable and our clients are looking for a warm space to hang their hat, sample and enjoy!

This venue has live entertainment, and hosts an interesting range of themed events (think corporate functions, birthday and bachelor parties). A diverse crowd are attracted to test, try and enjoy our many specialty products in an upbeat setting. We are looking for an skilled, experienced host or hostess to fill the role on the weekends (Thursday through Saturday), as well as book-outs, special events and more!

Experience in the industry is a must, working with high end liquor and cocktail/drink preparation making a definite bonus. Must have a positive can-do attitude, be able to work quickly, independently, provide exceptional client service and have willingness to learn about another industry/products to add to the repertoire with our sampling room and everything we will be able to do within it. A knowledge of tobacco products is an asset, but not necessary - just the capacity and willingness to learn more is good for us!

Important - This work environment will have some tobacco smoke present. Our state of art ventilation system will keep the environment at a level that exceeds the legal required limits through ongoing airflow exchange and ventilation, but some smoke will be present. As part of the hiring process, you will sign a waiver acknowledging this fact, and your agreement to working in this environment.

Key Requirements

Previous serving experience at a highly competent level is required Strong technical bartending knowledge including liquor, wine and beer Strong ability to lead conversation in any setting Willingness to learn about cigars, tobacco, pipes and more - a growing and evolving knowledge of all that we can offer in our Sampling Room. Highly organized Energetic and positive Ability to demonstrate leadership and make sound judgments with confidence

Pay: $16.00 per hour
