Join one of the largest hotel teams in Edmonton at Stages Kitchen & Bar within the DoubleTree by Hilton West Edmonton! STAGES Kitchen and Bar is famous for it's classic flavors and crafted cocktails to create memorable food experiences.We are looking for a FT Host/Hostess to join our Stage Kitchen & Bar Team!!! This could include breakfast, lunch and dinner service.Basic Purpose: Reporting to the Food & Beverage Services Manager, the Hostess/Host provides quality service to restaurant customers by greeting and seating them as well as processing their bills promptly and courteously.Major Responsibilities and Duties (to fulfill major purpose):

  • Meet and exceed customer and team member expectations by providing superior service and teamwork
  • Provide value added service by doing whatever reasonable and possible to meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Communicate effectively with customers, co-workers and supervisors
  • Demonstrate teamwork by cooperating and assisting co-workers as needed
  • Handle difficult situations effectively
  • Meet superior service standards
  • Perform other duties as required to provide superior service and teamwork
  • Ensure that restaurant is in proper condition for arrival of customers
  • Provide work direction for servers and buspersons, verifies that their work stations are stocked, neat and orderly
  • Check the overall condition of the dining room, ensuring its readiness for customers
  • Contribute to restaurant customer satisfaction by courteously greeting and escorting them to their seats
  • Present menus, suggesting cocktails and daily specials
  • Exhibit knowledge of all items on the menu and wine list
  • Acquire a working knowledge of hotel, in-house facilities and local information to respond to customer questions in these areas as required
  • Process customer restaurant bills promptly and accurately
  • Send all room charges immediately to Front Desk for posting
  • Inquire into level of customer satisfaction and attempt to rectify any complaints and/or refer to the Restaurant Manager
  • Make accurate operations reports for management or supervisor as requested
  • Follow hotel grooming and dress standards
  • Keep immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures to achieve the overall objectives of this position
  • Maintain a favourable working relationship with all company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious work environment
  • Project a favourable image of SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts to the public at all times
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:
  • Energetic and flexible, able to work well under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Passion for providing superior customer service
  • Self-motivated, creative, and capable of working in a team environment
Working Conditions:
  • Weekend and holiday hours as required
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time
Experience, Training and Education (demonstrating requirements):
  • ProServe required
  • Minimum 1 year guest service experience or food service support preferred
