The responsibility of a Hostess/Host is to greet guests when they arrive, seat them at a table and thank them when they are leaving all in a friendly manner.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The Hostess/Host must ensure that the guests feel welcome and comfortable; they must ensure all menus and hostess stand are clean, reservations are noted and seating plan is organized.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Previous experience as a hostess in a similar environment
TOOLS & EQUIPMENT:
Computer system, calculator, vacuum, broom and dust pan, credit card reference checking system
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Long hours sometimes required.
Standing for long periods of time.
Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from disparate sources and consider, adjust, or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need.
Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests.
Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions.

Exceptional customer service skills
Knowledge of sanitation policies required.
DUTIES & FUNCTIONS
ESSENTIAL:
Highly skilled in greeting guests, escorting to tables, seating, and providing them with menu and daily specials.
Demonstrate ability to anticipate and address guests' service needs and thank guests with genuine pleasure.
Substantial knowledge of the menus in bar, restaurant and room service.
In-depth knowledge of answering telephones in a suitable manner.
Hands- on experience in assigning work tasks and organize activities of dining room workers to make sure timely and polite service to patrons.
Inspecting dinging room serving stations for tidiness and sanitation.
Able to ensure that special requests are lodged and passed to restaurants staff.
Able to adjust complaints of patrons and guests.
Thorough understanding to make sure that all menu folders and inserts are spotless and current.
Comprehensive knowledge to make sure that all guests' supplies are filled.
Knowledge to maintain inventory of menus and inserts.
Proven ability to obtain reservations as required ensuring correctness.
Able to speak with others using clear and professional language.
Computer: MS Word and MS Excel
MARGINAL:
Keep dining area / workstations and IRD workstations clean at all times.
Help clear tables when guests have completed their meals as well as after leaving their tables.
Clear all trays from guestroom floors and service areas when possible.
Other duties as required.
