POSITION SUMMARY:
The Hospitality Worker is primarily responsible for assigned cleaning duties and/or laundry services in accordance with established work schedules, policies and procedures. In addition, assist with Food and Dining Services.
Within the scope of this position, the Hospitality Worker takes on a key role to continually provide an environment promoting a culture of resident safety and freedom from harm and injury.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Housekeeping and Laundry Services
Completes routine cleaning duties as assigned including, but not limited to, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and disinfecting of resident suites, restrooms, showers, nursing stations, lounges, offices and other areas as assigned.
Dusts, cleans and polishes furniture, cabinets, lamps/light fixtures, wall vents, handrails, baseboards, blinds etc. in resident suites, public areas and offices as assigned.
Cleans windows and spot washes walls per routine task checklist.
Removes trash from suites, public areas, offices and ensures disposal is in accordance with company protocol.
Shampoos carpeted areas as requested.
Washes resident bath mats as required.
Cleans and polishes fireplace glass.
Cleans inside and outside of washers/dryers; empties lint traps at least daily.
Uses duty check list daily and returns to Supervisor for review.
Operates housekeeping equipment and implements as required.
Maintains equipment by following proper operating instructions, proper cleaning instructions and storing properly.
Maintains appropriate inventory of resident supplies, public area supplies and replenishment of position specific supplies (e.g. toilet paper, cleaning products, hand towels, hand soap etc.).
Attentive to care and consideration of resident, staff and visitors requests.
Maintains confidentiality of everything seen, heard or aware of.
Consistent clear focus on resident satisfaction is required.
Attends mandatory training and departmental meetings.
Projects an image of calm, efficient professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct.
Demonstrates strong cooperation and team support.
2. Food and Dining Services
Follow Food Safe practices and company policies and procedures.
Assist with presentation, delivery, and service of meals.
Sets dining areas for meals and clean-ups after meals.
Stocks common area kitchen(s), following proper inventory rotation methods.
Prepare and serve beverages and snacks.
Assist in preparation and service of family and special event catering, when required.
3. Housekeeping Safety
Utilizes procedures as trained in compliance with IP&C, WHMIS, Workplace Health & Safety.
A clear understanding of general housekeeping and sanitation practices as specified through AgeCare policies and procedures is required.
Uses appropriate equipment for its intended purposes.
Forwards request for equipment repairs to Manager.
4. Resident Safety
Performs all work in accordance with facility, AgeCare and regulatory safety procedures and requirements including OSM, WHMIS, and OH&S.
Performs all duties in a manner in which resident safety is the focus.
Reports any unsafe activities that may cause harm or injury to a resident.
Observes and corrects any unsafe behavior demonstrated by residents.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Designation Requirements:
High school diploma is preferred.
WHIMIS training an asset.
Food Safe Certificate required for food service functions.
Must be fluent in English, both orally and in writing.
Experience:
Previous experience in a Healthcare or Retirement setting is preferred.
Experience with industrial vacuum, scrubber, floor polisher, etc. is preferred.
Special Job Characteristics:
Minimum 18 years of age is preferred.
Must be able to follow direction and have a willingness to learn.
Must enjoy working with the elderly.
Must be capable of routine work with minimal supervision.
Must have a positive attitude, be empathetic and motivated.
Must be neat and clean.
Must be flexible and adapt easily to changes in schedule, work assignments and environment.
Must be willing and capable of working in a fast paced environment.
Expected success in role to be demonstrated within 1 month of hire.

Wage Levelling Salary: $24.34 per hour
