We currently are recruiting for a Full Time Permanent "Hospitality Supervisor" opportunity at our community "Gilchrist Commons Community" at Silvera for Seniors. This position is located at 503 Pinestream Place N.E., Calgary and is a contract position of 18 months covering a maternity leave. Exact Shift Hours - 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (8 hours per shift - 80 hours bi-weekly and MUST be available to work rotating weekends)

Reporting directly to the Community Manager and indirectly to the Technical Advisor Dining Services, the Hospitality Supervisor supervises, trains, coordinates, and contributes to the activities of Dining Attendants and other kitchen personnel engaged in preparing and delivering meals at Silvera for Seniors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee the delivery of food products to the standards established by Silvera
Ensure compliance to all safe food handling practices in accordance with Board of Health regulations. Establishes and enforces nutrition and sanitation standards for each Community.
Determines food consumption and requisitions or purchases foodstuffs, supplies, and equipment.
Plans or collaborates with others in planning menus and utilization of food surpluses and leftovers, considering number of residents, marketing conditions, popularity of various dishes, and recency of menu.
Observes methods of food preparation and cooking, sizes of portions, and garnishing of foods to ensure food is prepared in prescribed manner.
Receives and examines foodstuffs and supplies to ensure quality and quantity meet established Silvera standards and specifications.
Plans menus and table settings and d\xc3\xa9cor based on type of food to be prepared, applying personal knowledge and experience in food service delivery Gives instructions to workers as to size of portions and methods of garnishing.
Oversee the work schedules, job duty updates, leave requests and payroll submissions of dining services staff to ensure all shifts are staffed and paid as required. Maintains and approves time off and payroll records. The Hospitality Supervisor will employ, train and discharge workers.
Provide leadership and training to all Dining staff, supporting the understanding and communication of Silvera\'s dining service vision and continuous improvement initiatives.
Participates in monthly internal Dining Services Food Quality and Kitchen Cleanliness Audits. Provides all feedback to the Technical Advisor, Dining Services, and the Community Manager. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, and discharges dining service staff to meet the needs and goals of the facility and program. Consistently applies knowledge, Silvera\'s policy and procedures and employment standards and legislation to manage the employment cycle.
Provide direction and supervision to all dining services staff including performance reviews and dealing with issues, including conflict resolution.
Coordinates schedule of cleaning the kitchen, dining room and food storage areas.
Responsible for weekly and monthly inventory and ordering of non-food supplies and for dinnerware and small wares with direction from the Technical Advisor, Dining Services.
Review weekly and monthly menus and works within budget.
Oversee the implementation and compliance with Accounting for Residents procedure as established by Silvera.
Ensure all Supportive Living Accommodation Licensing Act standards in support of dining service are adhered to.
Give directions in the operations for food services for all meals and special events.
Participate in and promote Silvera\'s Health and Safety Program and participate in other committees/projects as requested.
Maintain a visible presence by meeting with residents, communicating with them, discussing comment card feedback, and resolving any service or food quality issues.
Coordinate front of the house operations and Community special events as required.
Welcome new residents and discuss the resident orientations in timely manner. Advise the Culinary Supervisor/Technical Advisor, Dining Services, Community Resident Assistant Manager or Manager of concerns presented, and actions taken.
Coordinate and lead bi-monthly meetings with the Culinary Supervisor in Resident Dining Council within the community to maintain transparent communication in promoting Silvera\'s dining services vision.
With support from Culinary Supervisor, Assistant Community Manager, Community Resident Manager, conduct regular staff meetings with all dining services staff members to maintain open and honest communication.
Takes a lead role at the community in the absence of the Culinary Supervisor, Assistant Community Manager, Community Manager or Administrative Coordinator as required.
Resolve and report safety issues to Technical Advisor, Dining Services, Culinary Supervisor, Assistant Community Manager, Community Manager, Administrative Coordinator, Maintenance, or Reception.
Be knowledgeable in emergency procedures and act accordingly when required.
Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Supervisory experience in catering, restaurant, or in a similar capacity within institutions or senior citizen\'s facilities. Possess certification from professional hospitality or culinary training (a definite asset) Demonstrated leadership qualities and proven ability to motivate others towards continuous improvement in all aspects of Dining Services.
Genuine interest and commitment to work with seniors in a compassionate, dignified, and respectful manner.
Must be able to work independently and as a team member demonstrating strong organizational skills to be able to meet deadlines.
Flexible, willing, with positive attitude and excellent problem-solving abilities.
Strong customer service focus and the ability to relate well with all community members.
Possess a high standard of hygiene and personal appearance.
Willingness to attend courses as requested by Silvera.
Must have current First aid, WHMIS, Safe Food Handling Course.
Intermediate capacity to work with computer programs, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Experience with Sysco Synergy MealSuite software considered an asset.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be able to lift objects up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Required to do repetitive food service work
Must be able to withstand temperature changes
Required to travel between Communities and Supervise multiple sites
Will be exposed to: Corrosive and non-corrosive chemicals, Frequent bending and stretching, Pulling and pushing, lifting furniture, Operating heavy cleaning equipment on an infrequent basis
