The new hospital is anticipated to open in 2027 and will continue to offer a range of services including 24/7 emergency care, various outpatient clinics, diagnostic imaging (with CT being added in the new hospital), endoscopy, dialysis and palliative care. Position Summary

The Hospitality Service Representative (HSR) reports to the Team Lead of Hospitality Services. HSRs are responsible for the cleaning of patient care units, transporting patients, stocking of medical supplies at the bed side as well as operating cleaning.

Required

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent combination of education and experience,
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers,
  • Must be able to work well in a team environment,
  • Must be positive and contribute actively to workplace solutions,
  • Demonstrated concern for the care and comfort of patients,
  • Ability to read, follow instructions, and basic math skills,
  • Must have satisfactory work performance in present position,
  • Must have previous proven good attendance record,
  • Must be able to perform heavy lifting,
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt easily to changes in schedule, work assignments, and environment,
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and accomplish tasks in a fast-paced environment,
  • Must successfully complete the required training program within probationary period,
  • Must be physically able to position and transfer patients,
  • Must be physically able to transport patients and equipment,
  • Must successfully complete the required training program within probationary period,
  • Ability to safely work with a variety to industrial housekeeping chemicals,
  • Ability to perform overhead cleaning, and
  • Must be comfortable working on a safety ladder.
Preferred
  • Familiarity and comfort with technology systems (computers, pagers, smart phones),
  • Previous experience with hospital housekeeping duties, and
  • Previous experience in safely operating housekeeping equipment (auto scrubbers, burnishers, vacuums and steamers).
Duties
  • Housekeeping duties related to all patient care areas, this includes cleaning up body fluids (urine, feces and blood),
  • Assists in transferring, positioning or lifting patients under the direct supervision of a designated health care professional,
  • Performs patient transportation duties within patient care unit area and to other locations within the hospital, and
  • Assists in hospital codes as appropriate.

  • Required Occasionally - lifting average 10-25 pounds, carrying and pushing/pulling, and
  • Required Infrequently - lifting up to 60 pounds, carrying and pushing/pulling.
Mobility
  • Required Frequently - prolonged standing and walking on hard surfaces,
  • Required Occasionally - crouching/squatting, foot activation, and
  • Required Rarely - bending/stooping, climbing.
Dexterity
  • Required Occasionally - lifting average 10-25 pounds, carrying and pushing/pulling,
  • Required Frequently - reaching, neck, elbow, shoulder, wrist and back normal range of motion,
  • Required Often - material handling, gripping/grasping, and
  • Required Occasionally - fine finger movements, reaching, handling, gripping/grasping.
