We have an immediate demand for a Horizontal Machining Centre Operator to join our CNC machine shop.
Summary:
The qualified candidate will be able to interpret blueprints and set up machines accordingly. Responsibilities will include setting up CNC machines, loading parts, proving out programs, operating controls, setting offsets, simple program edits, deburring, and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements.
The CNC Operator will detect equipment/tooling malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjust machine within capabilities, controls or control media as required to ensure quality of production and report all machine errors to their immediate supervisor. Successful candidates will also be required to operate the crane and other lifting devices.
Essential Duties:
Identify work piece, such as stainless or carbon steel castings.
Set up, load, and align part using fixtures, blocks, shims, parallels, wedges, clamps, etc.
Use of overhead crane or jib to assist in lifting when needed.
Assemble proper cutting tools for operation using tool holder, chucks, collets, drills, taps, reamers, face mills, and boring tools, etc. Index cutting inserts as required.
Load CNC program and perform a trial run to check program accuracy when needed.
Use process instructions and G & M code
Adjust or select machine parameters such as feed rate, speed, and offset values where required.
Perform close tolerance machining operations such as facing, boring, counter boring, drilling, tapping, etc.
Perform in process inspection of machined parts as required to maintain quality requirements.
Make appropriate program changes and edits where required. May on occasion need to operate machine manually, without program.
Unloading and remove processed parts from machine.
Clean up work piece removing burrs, chips, coolant, etc.
Keep facilities, material, and work area clean and orderly.
Conform to safety and inspection requirements and perform all the above operations in a safe and efficient manner.
Qualifications:
Three to five years of practical, hands on, CNC machining experience
Read and interpret part drawings and blueprints.
Ability to use quality inspection gauging, indicating, and measuring techniques including verniers, calipers, and micrometers.
Know basic machine shop math and basic machine shop practices.
Demonstrate basic knowledge of machining terminology and procedures.
Demonstrate a safe work history.
Top Candidates will have:
Set up machine & tooling, loading, prove out & program editing experience is a must.
Experience with Fanuc CNC controls and operator interface.
Steel and other metals experience preferred.
