HDD DRILLER

Key Responsibilities:

Installation of underground conduit guaranteeing safety to the public and underground facilities are a top priority Safely operate a truck and trailer to bring equipment & materials to site. Accurately read utility locates and construction drawings Layout bore path with locator and identify any possible issues; report concerns to superiors before commencing work Covey plan with team members and or hydrovac to complete utility exposures (daylighting) Operate directional drills to complete bore paths and install conduit/cable as necessary Communicate precisely with locator during entire drill shot to ensure work is completed in a safe and efficient manner Team leader, who will participate in all tasks required alongside the crew, setting an example of work ethic and solidarity Sets a strong production pace, relative to the infield safety rhythm Performs daily preventative maintenance and post shift repair work when required Ensures vehicles and equipment are cleaned inside & out Setup work site including pedestrian control and traffic Willing to work in different environments with moderate to loud noise levels Willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Ready to work in trenches, manholes and tunnels Move/lift material weighing 50+ pounds Duties include but are not limited to the above. Additional tasks may be assigned as required

Skills and Qualifications:

2+ years of Calgary drilling experience Experience with Vermeer Drills preferred No previous utility strikes Shallow utilities experience - power, gas and telecommunications A clean Drivers Abstract is essential for this role and you must be able to get approved to drive PTL Vehicles. Valid driver's license minimum Class 5 preferred, clean abstract. No At Fault Accidents in the last last 7 years, and no major convictions in the last 3 years. Safety conscious Adaptable/ problem solver Arrives to each shift ready to work with a good attitude, ambition, and professionalism Knowledge of ground disturbance procedures. Current safety tickets are mandatory: CSTS 2020. Ready to take compulsory company safety courses including but not limited to First Aid, Ground Disturbance, WHMIS, H2S ALIVE - before beginning work Willing to work long hours, 5 to 6 days per week Willing to work out of town occasionally Level of experience will be a determining factor in wage.
