Job Description

The Gobind Sarvar Edmonton invites applications for full-time (1.0 FTE) Kindergarten-Grade 6 Teachers. Teachers interested in collaboration, teamwork and culture building are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong 21st century teaching skills including designing and delivering project based learning that ensures high student engagement, critical thinking skills, inquiry, connections with real world problems and the use of technology as a learning tool.

Qualifications and Responsibilities

Applicants are required to...have a Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate, a Bachelor of Education Degree or equivalent recognized by Alberta Education and an Understanding of different teaching methodologies and multiple intelligences Teach according to the educational needs abilities and achievement of the individual students and groups of students We want our teachers to be adaptable and flexible in a supportive learning environment committed to work as a team member in a collaborative setting. We want our teachers to create a learning environment that is aligned with the principles of Bloom's Taxonomy. This means that they must plan and deliver instruction that asks their students to think critically, apply, analyze, and create. To reach the full potential of Bloom's buckets, a school must have a culture that allows for multiple types of learning. We don't believe that students should be forced to learn how to think critically. Instead, we want to create systems that allow students to grow their academic and behavioral abilities. We're looking for people who are passionate about building strong relationships. The goal of the Project-Based Learning teacher is to create engaging and meaningful interdisciplinary unit plans, lessons and projects that will help students develop their critical thinking, creativity, and cross-disciplinary thinking. The ideal teachers must be a team player and a trusted voice for progressive education. He or she will also be passionate about working with young children. Most importantly, this individual will be expected to work towards improving the learning experience for all students.

Primary duties:



According to Alberta curriculum outcomes the teacher will develop a unit plan that includes topics such as logic, hypothesizing, and predicting answers. He or she will also collaborate with teachers to develop a variety of inquiry and solution skills Regular communication with the families to involve families in students' learning
