Job Description

EHSJ's HomeConnect Coordinator will oversee the delivery of the HomeConnect Program and will coordinate its day-to-day operations. The position will work collaboratively with community agencies that use the HomeConnect program to achieve housing stability. The HomeConnect Coordinator brings an understanding of the problems that commonly occur during a tenancy and will work with stakeholders to put proactive, solutions-focused plans in place to address them. The HomeConnect Coordinator has previous frontline experience in the community supporting tenancies and is familiar with existing community resources and programs as well as the Residential Tenancy Act.

ABOUT THE POSITION:



Many of our vulnerable neighbours rely on the rental market for housing but may have trouble maintaining housing stability on their own. Homelessness or the risk of homelessness is often the result. The HomeConnect program enables successful tenancies in the private market by facilitating access to available units and offering tools and resources to support all parties - landlords, tenants, and supporting agencies.

This position is primarily dedicated to supporting the HomeConnect program, with opportunities to work with other Community Investment programs and EHSJ initiatives as they relate to successful tenancies. This role is integral in supporting housing stability by coordinating tenancy processes, liaising with agencies and landlords, and ensuring smooth transitions for tenants.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



Overall Program Support



Develop a strong understanding of EHSJ's priority areas and initiatives including, but not limited to Coordinated Access, the By-Name List, Housing First, and other key concepts related to ending homelessness. Support and supervise HomeConnect staff to ensure program success Support implementation of the St. John's Community Plan to End Homelessness, particularly within the Community Investment priority area.

Program Coordination



Oversee day-to-day operations of the HomeConnect program. Maintain case knowledge and monitor HomeConnect tenancies. Review reports on rental arrears and determine appropriate remedial actions. Foster strong collaborative relationships with community agencies, landlords and service providers. Manage tenancy expenses and oversee relevant budget lines. Stay current on relevant tenancy and housing legislation. Provide supervision and support for staff within the HomeConnect program.

Property & Agency Coordination



Conduct tenancy sign-ups, support coordination of move-ins and communicate tenancy conditions to community agencies. Coordinate with external agencies to create support plans for HomeConnect tenancies and ensure sufficient community agency connections are in place. Address tenancy-related complaints in collaboration with community supports to achieve resolution. Organize landlord engagement sessions and training workshops. Conduct routine check-ins for all active HomeConnect landlords. Provide guidance on the Residential Tenancies Act to community partners, colleagues, and case managers.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:



Bachelor's degree or diploma in human services, social work, community planning, or a related field. Minimum of three years' experience in a related environment, with at least six months of supervisory experience throughout your career. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered. Criminal record check required.

REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:



Experience working with diverse populations. Strong understanding of residential tenancy laws, low-income funding programs, and housing resources. Commitment to data privacy and confidentiality. Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and deadlines. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with excellent written and verbal communication. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Proficiency in MS Office suite, particularly Outlook, Excel, and Word. Valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle required. Applicants must provide a current Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Criminal Record Screening Certificate and Vulnerable Sector Check.

PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT & COMPLIANCE



Demonstrate respect, cultural competence, and knowledge of trauma-informed care in interactions with residents, staff, volunteers, and partners. Maintain resident confidentiality and privacy. Maintain accurate written and digital records, compile reports, and complete required program documentation (case notes, statistics, letters, etc.). Participate in team meetings, training, and professional development to stay informed on best practices.

HOW TO APPLY:



This position provides a competitive salary and benefits plan, including health, dental, and RRSP contributions. Salary is commensurate with experience and will start at $62,500 per year.
