What you will be doing:
Claims Management
- Utilize your expertise and sound judgment to adjust claims by verifying policy coverage, investigating construction defects, and assessing associated liabilities.
Complex & Litigated Files
- Handle escalated and senior-level claims, including litigated matters, and provide direction on resolution strategies.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with developers, builders, legal counsel, regulators, and other stakeholders to ensure fair and timely resolution of claims.
Documentation & Reserving
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive claim records, including communications, observations, financials, and decisions. Set and adjust reserves promptly and appropriately.
Customer Service
- Deliver superior service and clear communication to homeowners and industry partners, always keeping the customer experience at the forefront.
Team Leadership
- Act as a resource for colleagues by supporting their development, sharing expertise, and promoting a collaborative team culture.
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure adherence to policy terms, provincial regulations, building codes, and performance guidelines.
What you bring to the team:
Experience
: Minimum 3+ years of proactive claims handling, with a strong background in property and/or home warranty claims. Supervisory or senior file experience preferred.
Complex Claims Knowledge
: Proven ability to manage varied portfolios including litigated and escalated files.
Technical Expertise
: Experience reviewing scopes of work, estimates, bids, professional reports, and construction documentation.
Communication Skills
: Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills with exceptional written and verbal communication.
Construction Knowledge
: Practical experience in development and/or residential construction is an asset. Familiarity with building codes and performance guidelines is highly valued.
Professional Designation
: CIP or FCIP designation preferred.
