The Role:
The
Regional Home Support Worker
contributes to the mission of Community Support Connections by supporting assigned clients with their activities of daily living. This involves visiting clients in their homes and assisting them with instrumental activities of daily living such as light home cleaning, laundry work, minor meal preparation, or grocery shopping. The Regional Home Support Worker typically works independently, maintaining client privacy and confidentiality while being understanding and caring with each client's unique needs.

Key Responsibilities
Community Support Connections screens all our Home Support Worker candidates through reference and police checks, and then matches them with eligible clients who need assistance with:
Vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, mopping
Washing dishes, cleaning the kitchen, wiping out fridges and microwaves
Cleaning and restocking the bathroom
Taking out trash/recycling
Wiping down/sanitizing surfaces, doors, handrails, window frames, light switches, door handles
Laundry and changing bed linens
Light meal prep (i.e. making sandwiches or reheating cold or frozen food)
Light grocery shopping and putting away purchased items
Other homemaking duties as required
Other Tasks
Keeps appointment times and informs clients if running late
Receives clear communication from client on expectations and agreed upon tasks before beginning work
Prioritizes most urgent tasks on the list, and does others as time allows
Notices and reports changes in client behaviors or circumstances
Collects payments from clients
Requested Skills/Qualifications
1-year related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
Current Emergency First Aid/CPR A Certificate (or be willing to acquire by time of employment)
Valid Driver's License (required)
Daily access to a safe, licensed, reliable and insured vehicle for business related travel (required)
Successful candidates must also provide a recent
Vulnerable Sector Police Check
(VSPC) and
3 Personal References
(noting full name, relationship, email address and phone number) prior to being matched with clients in this program.

Notice and immediately report any client concerns, falls, incidents/injuries/accidents/complaints, workplace hazards or any unauthorized access to client homes
Working Hours and Environment
Flexible working hours
Must be available five days per week
Ability to travel to individual client homes within the Waterloo Region
May be exposed to household cleaners, pets, smoke, temperature fluctuations and occasional stair climbing
