Responsibilities
Support individuals with developmental disabilities by assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), including grooming, hygiene, and nutrition.
Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and emotional well-being.
Facilitate communication using various methods such as American Sign Language (ASL) or other augmentative communication tools.
Provide direct support during community outings, home visits, or in residential settings to ensure safety and engagement.
Collect data on client progress, behavior patterns, and service outcomes to inform care plans and reporting requirements.
Administer medications following prescribed protocols and document all medication-related activities accurately.
Assist with childcare responsibilities when working with children or family members involved in the care process.
Drive clients to appointments, recreational activities, or community events using personal or agency vehicles.
Support clients in developing life skills and independence through tailored coaching and guidance.
Collaborate with team members, families, and other professionals such as social workers or behavioral health specialists to coordinate care plans effectively.
Experience
Prior experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities or autism is highly preferred.
Knowledge of special education principles and behavioral health practices enhances your ability to support clients effectively.
Home and community care experience is valuable for understanding diverse environments and client needs.
Strong communication skills are essential for engaging clients of all ages and abilities.
Experience with data collection, documentation, and report writing ensures accurate tracking of client progress.
Ability to assist with ADLs, medication administration, and behavior management demonstrates your readiness for this role.
Valid driver's license and safe driving record are required for transportation duties.
