POSITION SUMMARY:
Home Child Care Consultants work with home child care providers and communicates with families to support the delivery of inclusive; high quality licensed care in private homes that meet the physical, emotional, developmental and diverse cultural needs of children and comply with agency and government policies and regulations. This position is currently based at
Macaulay Centres for Children Head Office - 400, 2010 Eglinton Ave W, York, ON M6E 2K3.
This position will also require traveling to different sites such as visiting Home Child Care Providers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Market the home child care program to the community.
Recruit, assess and select potential providers based on family's needs, agency policies and government regulations.
Recruit children and families as required to maintain adequate waiting lists and facilitate placements efficiently and in the best interest of the child and family;
Carry out intake procedures to facilitate the successful placement of children to provider homes.
Contract with parents around their own and the agency's expectations.
Conduct review of policies and procedures with providers.
Audit children and provider files to ensure compliance with provincial (CCEYA) and municipal regulations.
Through monthly scheduled and unscheduled visits, confirm that the care in the provider's home is in compliance with provincial (CCEYA) and municipal (AQI) regulations and agency policies, including that it meets the needs of the children enrolled with completion of a Home Visitor Monthly Report
Support, coach and mentor providers to deliver high quality, inclusive care that meets and exceeds government regulations and agency policies.
Plan, organize, implement and evaluate professional development opportunities for providers to enhance the delivery of high quality inclusive care.
Facilitate mutual information sharing and contracting between parents and providers regarding children's development and child care issues, including back-up plans.
Provide ongoing support to parents through regular contact and linking parents appropriately with community resources.
Implement early identification and prevention strategies to support the developmental needs of children, including developmental screening, individual program plans, and assisting providers to plan and implement activities that enhance children's growth and development.
Initiate and receive referrals of children to/from other services and agencies; maintain effective liaisons with other support services to promote coordinated service to the child and family.
Perform administrative functions of the position, such as completing required forms and documents, maintaining accurate and timely statistics and attendance records (weekly audit), monitoring children's attendance and parent compliance for continued care, including payment of fees.
Assist with purchase, organization and distribution of toys and equipment.
Mentor or supervise students and volunteers.
Perform other tasks as delegated or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Early Childhood Education or Bachelor of Social Work degree or equivalent, with at least two (2) years of experience in licensed child care, including Home Child Care.
Member in good standing of the College of Early Childhood Educators.
Demonstrated ability to deliver inclusive programming to children with special needs.
Demonstrated experience providing consultation and professional development opportunities with an understanding of the principles of adult education.
Strong working knowledge of CCEYA and AQI requirements.
Solid understanding of child development and programming for children.
Extensive knowledge of community resources and support services for children and families.
Strong assessment, program planning and consultation skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal and listening skills.
Computer literacy required together with proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, Internet, and email.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective work partnerships with parents/families, colleagues and service providers of diverse backgrounds, abilities and identities.
Ability to communicate effectively in more than one language a definite asset
Excellent time management skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize
Strong understanding of teamwork and the ability to work effectively and contribute to a high performing team
Current Standard First Aid certification and appropriate medical and immunization record.
Valid Ontario Driver's License and access to a vehicle required.
Acceptable Vulnerable Sector Police Reference Check
SALARY:
Home Child Care Consultant (Trained) Salary Scale (Starting at $29.73/ $54,106 - $60,460 per annum) with Competitive Benefits Package (health & dental) and paid time off entitlements (starting at 20 vacation days & 3 float days)
