The Home Area Manager (HAM) reports directly to the Director of Resident Care. The HAM functions as a member of the Management team within the Department of nursing. The HAM is responsible for a Home Areas and works collaboratively with the other Home Area Managers for the overall management of the Home Areas with the delivery of 24-hour quality Nursing care to achieve the best possible outcomes for our Residents.

The HAM responsibilities include the planning, development, organization and implementation of policies and procedures that support the 24-hour Nursing care of Residents in the assigned Home Areas, including supervision of personnel and the coordination of care with other services at St Joseph's at Fleming.

The HAM carries out all duties within the framework of the Eden Alternative(TM) and GentleCare Philosophies and Objectives of St. Joseph's at Fleming, and the Residents' Bill of Rights. The HAM practices in accordance with standards set forth by the College of Nurses of Ontario.

EXPERIENCE



Current certificate of competence from CNO as Registered Nurse

Three years related management/supervisory experience

Excellent human resources management and leadership skills are required

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with staff, physicians, and family/Residents

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects at one time

Demonstrated ability to achieve goals and objectives within specified time frames

Excellent conflict resolution and change management skills

Computer skills and knowledge of word processing and Excel spreadsheet programs

Knowledge of admission and concurrent assessment and screening tools

Knowledge of Point Click Care software preferred

Understanding of Behavioural Support Ontario Programs

Post graduate education in gerontology, including diploma or certification courses preferred

Understanding of IPAC Standards for Long Term Care

SKILLS / ABILITIES:



Demonstrated ability to work well with Residents, families, volunteers, students, and all levels of staff

Ability to work well independently with minimal supervision and as a member of a multidisciplinary team

Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgement when performing duties

Ability to set priorities and be responsive to a challenging and multidisciplinary environment

Demonstrated commitment to on-going education

Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regularly scheduled basis

WORK ENVIRONMENT:



Hours of work are primarily Monday to Friday daytime hours. Some weekend and evening work is also expected. Work is performed in an office environment as well as in Resident Home Areas.

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule:

Day shift Monday to Friday Weekends as needed
Work Location: In person
