Nature and Scope:
The Holiday Mini-Train Operator will be trained to take lead successfully and efficiently in creating memorable experiences for guests in various areas of the facility. The Holiday Mini-Train Operator will be properly trained in how the train works, how to drive it, and especially how to maintain safety for Aquatarium staff, passengers, and pedestrians. Mini-Train Operators should be active, lighthearted and able to engage with the public.
Duties and Responsibilities:
? Complete daily and weekly maintenance checks, following procedures to ensure that the train is in working condition each day and that all components are in good working order. In addition, document all checks in accordance with procedures in order to ensure complete and accurate histories of train usage and maintenance.
? Follow all operational procedures and processes, including all relevant health and safety procedures and risk management plans, to ensure a safe and consistent train experience.
? Be able to drive the train from the Aquatarium to the starting point at the start of shift, maintain the regular schedule tours on time and without deviation, and return back to the Aquatarium at the end of the day.
? Help guests get in and out of the train, ensuring doors are shut during motion.
? Drive the train down a designated path confidently and safely while being aware of other vehicles and people.
? Interact with guests and serve as an ambassador to the City and the Aquatarium.
? Willing to partake in other activities within the Aquatarium as needed.
Qualifications:
? Must have a class G driver's license and clean driving record
? Exceptional leadership, people, and performance skills
? Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
? Must be comfortable stooping, kneeling, crouching, sitting, pulling, jumping and twisting
? Clean Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector check
? Must be able to lift 75lbs
? Professionalism, enthusiasm, and initiative are essential
? Must have a high attention to detail, able to follow directions, and consider safety as a top priority
Work Environment:
? This is a seasonal position coinciding with the City's River of Lights, from November 29 2025 until January 2 2025. Training shifts will start November 17 2025.
? 4 - 30 hours a week. Shifts are on weekends from November 29 2025 - December 21 2025, and will have expanded availability from December 21 2025 - January 2 2026. Shifts are usually 4 hours.
? Candidates must be available to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
