Operators
Reporting to the Foreman or Project Supervisor, the Operator is responsible for operating the equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. The Operator must also clean, maintain and secure all equipment. Equipment may include and is not limited to backhoe, mini track hoe, tow cat, plow cat and skid steer.
Position Qualifications:
Great degree of manual dexterity
2+ years of experience in construction or utility industry
Class 5 Alberta driver's license and clean drivers abstract
Min. 500 hours in preferred
Min 2500 hours in plow cat preferred
Can communicate in English (speak, read, and write)
Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines. Good organizational and time management skills, and the ability to manage multiple, and changing priorities. Detail oriented with an aptitude for metrics
Strong drive to get projects / work completed. High integrity, ability to maintain confidentiality is essential
Reliable transportation and the ability to travel domestically as required
Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions and in awkward and tight spaces
Ticket Requirements
Standard First Aid, ABGCA Approved Ground Disturbance Level II, Generic WHMIS 2015, CSTS 09 or 2020
Reporting Relationship
The operator reports directly to a Foreman or Project Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate the equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures
Maintain a positive public image of the company with appropriate personal conduct and maintaining a clean and safe work environment
Conducts pre-trip/walk-around safety inspections, maintenance checks and completes daily Field Level Hazard Assessments for all activities.
Solid understanding of the OH&S legislation pertaining to construction
Clean equipment as scheduled and/or required
Ensure equipment is safe and secure at end of shift
Advise the Fleet Manager of any requirements for maintenance or repairs
Participate in routine maintenance
Practice workplace safety
Excavate around buried utilities
Fine grading and finishing
Sloping and banking, backfilling, excavating, sub-grade excavating, trenching, material handling
Practicing proper soil separation (Top soil, clay, sand)
Working with ground personnel in the excavation and installation process of conduit and vault installation
Perform general construction activities, when applicable
Other duties as assigned ie: Filling in on other crews when necessary (Jetting, Plow, Install)
