The Position - HMS Designer




The HMS Designer role at MSCP offers the opportunity to contribute to Heat Management Systems across oil and gas, water treatment, and renewable projects. MSCP provides highly innovative technical and organizational solutions for Heat Management in the Energy sector. It was founded in 2011 to assist the Oil and Gas Industry but it is rapidly expanding into water treatment and renewables.

Role Responsibilities




Perform Heat Management Systems (HMS) design activities within MSCP's Engineering node for industrial facilities, including:

Develop EHT design packages including:

o Heat tracing isometrics


o Cable, Setpoint and Panel Board schedules


o Bill of materials (BOM)


o Installation details

Perform heat loss calculations and select appropriate tracing technologies (e.g., self-regulating, MI cable). Collaborate with process, mechanical, and electrical engineers to gather input and ensure alignment with project requirements. Use design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Computrace, TraceCalc Pro) to produce accurate drawings and documentation. Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., IEEE, CSA, NEC, API). Support procurement and construction teams with technical queries and field support. Participate in design reviews and provide input to improve design efficiency and constructability. Maintain accurate records and revision control of all design documents. Work with and develop standard HMS management processes and procedures on a continuing improvement basis. Understand Theory of Constraints and Deming Quality concepts as they relate to project work.

Role Requirements



1-2 years of industrial field experience. Electrical Engineering degree from Accredited University (or be a current student) Electrical Engineering diploma from an accredited College (or be a current student) Preferred License- E.I.T A passion for work in a growth environment with a challenging set of projects. Must prefer working in a non-hierarchical environment with ample autonomy. A hands-on attitude to the accomplishment of different company goals. Familiarity with Heat Management project scopes, including Electrical Heat Tracing and Insulation. Organization and Attention to Detail in ensuring quality field work. Good communication skills and logical problem-solving abilities.
