The Fort Museum of the North West Mounted Police and First Nations Interpretive Centre is looking for a new seasonal staff member to joins its team! Funded through the Young Canada Works in Heritage Organizations, the Historic Documents Registrar Intern will assist the Curator within the Collections Department in digitizing and preserving the historic documents within the museum. This is a unique opportunity to gain practical archival and museum experience while helping preserve Southern Alberta's history.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Curator with inventory, digitization, and documentation of historical records
and photographs.
- Perform data entry, accessioning, filing, and cross-referencing of museum records.
- Handle archival materials with care and ensure their long-term preservation.
- Submit monthly progress reports and participate in regular check-ins.
Training & Supervision
- Two weeks of orientation and hands-on training.
- Daily support and bi-monthly meetings with the Curator.
- Access to professional networking opportunities through museum associations.
Candidate Profile
- Detail-oriented, organized, comfortable with computers/scanners.
- Interest in history, archives, or museums.
- Eligibility: Applicants must meet Young Canada Works at Building Careers in Heritage internship criteria:
are legally entitled to work in Canada;
are between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment; and
are a college or university graduate;
Note: Priority will be given to graduates that have not previously participated in YCW internship
programs.
