Position Overview
:
As a
Personal Support Worker (PSW)
at Affinity Health, you will be integral in delivering personalized care services within a community-based setting. This includes visiting clients in their homes, supporting their personal care needs, offering emotional support, fostering companionship, and assisting with daily activities. This role provides the opportunity to work directly in the community, helping individuals maintain their independence and improve their quality of life.
Responsibilities
:
Assist clients with personal care activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting in their home environments.
Provide emotional support and companionship, fostering a sense of connection and well-being in the community.
Perform light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe living space for clients.
Administer medications and assist with medication reminders, ensuring clients adhere to their prescribed care plans.
Monitor, document, and report any changes in the client's condition or needs to the appropriate supervisor.
Build strong relationships with clients and their families, ensuring clear communication and trust.
Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety standards while delivering care in the community setting.
Qualifications
:
Personal Support Worker (PSW) designation from a recognized institution.
GPA (Gentle Persuasive Approach) Training (considered an asset).
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (considered an asset).
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) (considered an asset).
Previous experience working in community-based care or caregiving roles is preferred.
Proficiency in personal care techniques, including assisting with activities of daily living in home settings.
Strong problem-solving and assessment abilities to effectively address client needs in the community.
Honest, dedicated, and flexible approach to caregiving responsibilities in varying home environments.
Excellent communication skills to build rapport and establish trust with clients and families.
Commitment to providing high-quality care with compassion and professionalism.
Bilingual in French and English ( Asset)
Documents Required Upon Hire
:
Vulnerable Sector Check (valid within the last 3 years).
Valid CPR Certificate (Level C ).
Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate and official course transcripts.
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (2 doses required).
Updated Immunization Record including:
a) Negative 2-step TB test result from within the last year.
b)Tetanus (TDAP) vaccine received within the last 10 years
c) Two doses of Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) - proof of immune status.
d) Two doses of Varicella vaccine or serology confirming immune status.
e) Three doses of Hepatitis B - proof of immune status.
