Job Title: Lead Java Microservices Engineer (gRPC / Cloud-Native)

We are seeking a skilled developer to join our team in Toronto, ON. This role focuses on developing and implementing robust microservices using advanced technologies. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic environment, contributing to innovative projects and collaborating with diverse teams.
Required Skills & Qualifications

• Applicants must be able to work directly for Artech on W2
• 10+ years of hands-on development experience in Java/J2EE real-time microservices
• Proficient in Java 21, Cache framework - Redis, IBM MQ, Java Quarkus framework, gRPC proto specification
• Strong knowledge of REST API, gRPC Interface, and web services integration (REST, JSON, WSDL/SOAP, XML)
• Experience with containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes/OpenShift), and cloud platforms (Azure)
• Familiarity with DevOps tools such as Git, Maven, Jenkins, Helm, Terraform, Jira, Confluence
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Experience implementing APIs based on architecture frameworks (light4j, Spring Boot, gRPC framework)
• Good knowledge of Oracle DB and PLSQL queries
• Understanding of distributed systems, service orchestration, and cloud-native patterns
• Experience with security best practices for microservices (authentication, authorization, TLS)

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Develop and implement robust microservices using Java gRPC related technologies
• Integrate microservices with existing systems and third-party APIs
• Deploy, monitor, and scale gRPC microservices on cloud platforms
• Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines for microservice deployments
• Develop comprehensive unit, integration, and performance tests for gRPC services
• Collaborate with client stakeholders, product owners, architects, and other development teams
