The Role



Verdyn is establishing a

state-of-the-art high power DC testing laboratory

to validate equipment from EV chargers, microgrids, MW-scale energy storage systems, and industrial UPS applications. We're seeking a

High Power DC Lab Lead

to spearhead the planning, design, and implementation of this critical facility that will enable testing of systems up to

~1 MW class power levels

.

What you'll do:



Lead lab design and planning for a high power DC testing facility capable of validating EV chargers, energy storage systems, microgrids, and MW-scale UPS equipment Develop testing protocols and procedures for DC power systems, including safety procedures, equipment qualification, and performance validation methodologies Specify and procure lab infrastructure: high power DC supplies, electronic loads, measurement equipment, safety systems, and facility power/cooling requirements Design test setups for various equipment types and power levels, including electrical connections, instrumentation, data acquisition, and automated test sequences Establish measurement and calibration standards to ensure accurate testing and traceability across all power levels and equipment types Manage lab commissioning and validation, including facility acceptance testing, equipment verification, and initial test campaigns Develop lab capabilities roadmap to support current and future product testing needs, including emerging technologies and standards Lead cross-functional collaboration with engineering teams, safety, facilities, and external testing partners to ensure lab meets all technical and regulatory requirements Create comprehensive documentation including test procedures, safety protocols, equipment manuals, and lab operational guidelines

What you bring:



Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field; advanced degree preferred 5+ years of experience with high power electrical testing, power electronics validation, or similar laboratory environments Hands-on experience with MW-class power systems, DC power supplies, electronic loads, and high-current test setups Strong knowledge of electrical safety standards and practices for high power DC systems (NFPA 70E, IEEE standards, etc.) Experience with test automation and data acquisition systems (LabVIEW, Python, SCADA systems) Project management skills with experience leading technical projects from concept through implementation Understanding of power electronics testing requirements including efficiency, thermal, EMI/EMC, and reliability testing Strong technical communication and documentation skills

Nice to have skills:



Experience with EV charging infrastructure testing (CHAdeMO, CCS, MCS standards) Knowledge of energy storage system testing (battery systems, grid-scale storage, safety testing) Microgrid and grid-tie testing experience including grid codes and interconnection standards Familiarity with UL, IEC, and IEEE testing standards for power electronics and energy systems Facilities planning experience including electrical infrastructure, cooling systems, and lab layout optimization Experience with accredited testing laboratories and quality management systems (ISO/IEC 17025) Background in power system protection and arc flash analysis Regulatory and certification testing experience (UL, CE, FCC) Experience managing external testing partnerships and vendor relationships
