Position Overview:

Ontario Virtual Tutors is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic

Online High School Tutor - Mathematics.

A strong preference will be shown to tutors who can also offer tutoring to science courses.

We are seeking someone with a strong grasp of the Ontario high school math curriculum (Grades 11 and 12). In this role, you will provide targeted math support to students through concise, 25-minute virtual tutoring sessions. You must be comfortable and equipped to demonstrate mathematical concepts digitally using platforms like Google Meet or Zoom. This is a flexible, remote position ideal for individuals passionate about math and science education.

Responsibilities:

Deliver clear, engaging, and effective biology and chemistry tutoring during scheduled 25-minute online sessions. Utilize digital tools (e.g., virtual whiteboard, screen sharing with a tablet/touchscreen and e-pen) to clearly explain concepts and demonstrate problem-solving steps via Google Meet or Zoom. Maintain knowledge of the Ontario high school math curriculum. Manage your availability within our scheduling system, allowing students to book sessions during your open time slots. Create a positive and encouraging learning environment. Maintain punctuality and professionalism for all scheduled sessions.

Qualifications:

Must possess

a strong understanding of and confidence in teaching the Ontario high school curriculum (Grades 11-12). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Patient, reliable, and self-motivated. Comfortable working independently in a remote setting.

Technical Requirements:

Reliable high-speed internet connection. A computer capable of running Google Meet or Zoom smoothly.

Essential:

A device setup that allows for clear digital demonstration of concepts (e.g., touchscreen computer/laptop with an electronic pen, dedicated drawing tablet connected to a computer, other effective means of digital communication for tutoring). Proficiency with online meeting platforms (Google Meet/Zoom) and digital whiteboard functionalities.

Schedule & Availability:

Required:

Consistent availability during weekday evenings (e.g. 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM EDT)

Optional but Preferred:

Availability during weekends (Saturday and/or Sunday). Tutors set their specific hours of availability within these times, and students book 25-minute slots directly.

Compensation:

$30.00 per hour, paid for time spent in tutoring sessions.
