Position Overview
We are seeking an energetic and dedicated
High School Math and/or Science Teacher
to join our academic team as a part-time
Student Success & Academic Operations Assistant
. This is a teaching and supervisory role designed for educators who thrive in high-performance environments and are passionate about supporting student-athlete success.
In this unique dual position, you will deliver instruction in Ontario Secondary School courses such as
MHF4U, MDM4U, MCV4U, SPH4U, SCH4U, and SBI4U
, while also providing classroom supervision, operational assistance, and academic engagement support to keep student-athletes on track during asynchronous periods.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, deliver, and support engaging lessons aligned with the Ontario curriculum in high school Math and Science (e.g., MHF4U, MDM4U, MCV4U, SPH4U, SCH4U, SBI4U).
Provide subject-specific tutoring, feedback, and individualized support to facilitate student mastery of advanced concepts.
Supervise and maintain a focused, productive learning environment for high school students during asynchronous academic blocks.
Monitor student engagement and progress; record attendance and communicate concerns to the Academic Lead.
Develop instructional materials leveraging digital tools and interactive teaching methods.
Incorporate technology tools such as learning management systems (LMS/SIS), scientific simulations, and digital labs into daily instruction.
Assist students in preparation for standardized assessments and higher education pathways in STEM fields.
Support onboarding of new students, helping them navigate digital academic platforms and learning expectations.
Contribute to academic workshops, parent sessions, school-wide initiatives, and compliance documentation efforts.
Maintain accurate academic and administrative records; assist with technology troubleshooting as needed.
Collaborate with administrators, teachers, and coaches to foster a supportive and high-performing academic and athletic environment.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, Science, or related field; Master's or additional subject qualification is an asset.
Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) designation, or eligibility for certification, is strongly preferred.
Strong background teaching Ontario curriculum courses: MHF4U, MDM4U, MCV4U, SPH4U, SCH4U, SBI4U.
Proven experience instructing high school students across Math and Science, including lab environments and scientific inquiry.
Experience in classroom management, student supervision, and supporting student well-being.
Proficient with digital learning platforms and educational technology tools.
Excellent communication, organizational, and mentorship skills with a positive, proactive approach.
Experience as an LTO or recent Teacher's College graduate is welcomed.
Experience supporting student-athletes or working in asynchronous or blended learning environments is an asset.
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent, Fixed term contract
