to help high school students improve their reading, writing, and communication skills. This position will provide individualized or small-group instruction aligned with the Ontario Curriculum (Grades 9-12), focusing on essay writing, grammar, comprehension, and critical analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one or small-group tutoring sessions in English for high school students.
Implement differentiated instructional strategies to meet diverse student learning needs.
Assist students with reading comprehension, writing assignments, and exam preparation.
Help students develop critical thinking and analytical writing skills.
Monitor and document student progress, providing constructive feedback and study recommendations.
Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school staff to ensure consistent academic support.
Maintain a positive and encouraging learning environment that fosters student confidence and engagement.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field.
Experience tutoring or teaching high school English (Grades 9-12).
Strong understanding of the Ontario English Curriculum (e.g., ENG1D, ENG2D, ENG3U, ENG4U, etc.).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping students succeed.
Ability to tutor both in-person and/or online (depending on schedule and student needs).
