Dynamite Construction Ltd. is seeking four skilled and safety-oriented
High Scalers
to join our slope stabilization and rock remediation team. The High Scaler will be responsible for the removal of unstable rock, vegetation, and debris from steep slopes, rock cuts, and cliffs using rope access techniques and specialized scaling equipment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring slope stability, worker safety, and protection of public infrastructure in high-risk environments.
Key Responsibilities
Perform manual and mechanical rock scaling on high-angle slopes using ropes, harnesses, and personal fall arrest systems.
Identify, dislodge, and safely remove loose rock, vegetation, and unstable material.
Install and tension rock bolts, dowels, mesh, and other slope stabilization systems under the direction of the Site Supervisor or Geotechnical Engineer.
Conduct pre-scaling inspections to assess slope conditions and identify hazards.
Operate pneumatic and hydraulic tools, including scaling bars, drills, and small excavating equipment where applicable.
Maintain all equipment and PPE in safe working order and report defects immediately.
Follow all company safety policies, FLHAs, and WorkSafeBC regulations for rope access and rock scaling activities.
Assist in traffic control setup or site housekeeping as required to maintain a safe work area.
Work collaboratively with supervisors, engineers, and crew members to ensure the project is executed safely and efficiently.
Qualifications and Requirements
Minimum
3-5 years of experience
in rock scaling, rope access, or related high-angle work (e.g., slope stabilization, drilling/blasting, geotechnical construction).
Valid
WorkSafeBC Fall Protection
and
High Angle Rope Access
certification.
Experience working in remote or mountainous environments under variable weather conditions.
Strong understanding of slope hazards, rock types, and safe scaling techniques.
Physically fit and capable of performing strenuous work in demanding outdoor conditions.
Commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
Class 5 Driver's License (with clean abstract) preferred.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in drilling, bolting, and mesh installation.
