Full-Time herbicide Applicator / Lawn Care Technician

$19/hour + Commission o Full-Time (40 hrs/week)

Neighbourhood Heroes is hiring a Full-Time Pesticide Sprayer / Applicator for the 2026 season. This is an excellent role for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in meticulous craftsmanship, and seeks stable hours in a professional, fast-growing lawn care company.

Sprayers are responsible for applying liquid weed control, fertilizers, and vegetation treatments using commercial spray equipment while following Alberta's safety and compliance standards.

Compensation

$19/hour starting wage 1% commission on service upsells to active customers 3% commission on services or packages sold to new customers Overtime at 1.5x after 8 hrs/day or 40+ hrs/week 1 paid sick day per month (unused days stack)
Schedule:

Full-Time: 40 hours per week Monday to Friday Typical shift: 6:45 AM - 3:00 PM

Job Responsibilities

Spraying & Applications

Apply weed control and fertilizer accurately and safely using truck-mounted hoses Use backpack sprayers for vegetation control in landscaped areas Follow Alberta pesticide regulations, PPE requirements, and NH safety standards Overlap spray lines correctly and maintain consistent, even turf coverage
Equipment & Vehicle Operation

Drive company work trucks safely between job sites Pull hose lines without damaging customer property Handle, secure, and maintain backpack sprayers Perform basic daily equipment checks
Additional Lawn Care Services

Aerate lawns thoroughly and safely Overseed lawns without contaminating rock or mulch areas Leave detailed service summaries at each stop Request Google reviews from satisfied customers
Reporting

Mark each visit as completed or unserviceable Document issues, reschedule requests, and property notes Return equipment and PPE at the end of the shift

A Day in the Life

Arrive at 6:45 AM, prep equipment, clock in, and load the truck Drive safely to each home and verify the address in the NH App Pull the spray hose to the farthest corner of the yard Spray the perimeter, then spray in consistent lines with proper overlap Perform vegetation control (VC) when required using shielded backpacks Leave a sign and service summary at each property Complete 12-22 properties depending on route density Return to the warehouse, unload equipment, and clock out
This is active, detail-oriented work for someone who enjoys structure and autonomy.

Requirements

Alberta Pesticide Applicator Certificate (can be acquired through training)
(or willingness to obtain; NH can assist with training and preparation)

Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence 3-year clean driving abstract Minimum 3 years insured driving history Physically capable of handling spray hoses, backpacks, and working outdoors Strong attention to detail and safety Good communication and customer service skills Comfortable working independently and in outdoor conditions
