We are seeking a dedicated and dependable Custodian to join our team and help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming school environment. As a custodian, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational mission of our school by ensuring our facilities are clean, secure, and well-maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of classrooms, restrooms, offices, and common areas
Maintain cleaning equipment and restock supplies
Ensure building security and assist with facility safety
Report maintenance issues and safety concerns
Support event setup and takedown, and assist with furniture moves
Perform seasonal tasks such as snow shoveling and outdoor maintenance
Conduct minor maintenance on building systems and furniture repairs
Collaborate with staff and project a positive image of the school
What We're Looking For:
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 6 months of custodial or building maintenance experience preferred
Valid WHMIS certification
Working knowledge of cleaning procedures, tools, and safety regulations
Ability to operate custodial equipment (e.g., auto scrubbers, vacuums, floor burnishers)
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Outlook)
Strong organizational, communication, and people skills
A demonstrated ability to work efficiently and effectively
Physically capable of lifting, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods
The successful applicant will be required to provide a police information check with vulnerable sector as well as complete job specific pre-employment testing as a condition of the job offer.
