Collect solid waste and recyclable materials from customer locations and curbside areas.
Load waste materials into the rear or side of collection vehicles.
Sort recyclable materials and place them into designated compartments when required.
Assist the driver with safe vehicle operation, including backing up and maneuvering in tight spaces.
Operate compaction equipment on the collection truck.
Inspect waste collection vehicles before leaving the branch to ensure required equipment is present (e.g., broom, shovel).
Identify prohibited waste items, tag them, notify the driver, and remove them when necessary.
Immediately report customer-related issues to the driver.
Maintain route quality standards and work with supervisors to improve routing efficiency.
Keep the interior cab and exterior of the vehicle clean.
Assist with additional duties such as sorting materials, cleaning carts, warehouse cleaning, stacking pallets or gaylords, operating compactors, and placing cans in roll-off containers.
Attend safety meetings and branch meetings as required.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Follow all federal, provincial/state, local, and company safety regulations.
Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, including gloves, reflective vest, safety glasses, and work boots.
Maintain a professional appearance, attitude, and behavior when interacting with customers and the public.
Requirements
----------------
High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
1-3 months of related experience or training preferred but not required.
Valid driver's license preferred but not required.
Must meet company standards for safety-sensitive positions.
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
Ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision.
Ability to operate job-related equipment.
Physical & Mental Demands

Ability to work outdoors up to 90-100% of the time.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting.
Ability to lift up to 65 lbs regularly.
Ability to push or move up to 100 lbs with assistance.
Requires climbing, balancing, kneeling, crawling, and use of hands and fingers.
Requires strong visual abilities, including depth perception and peripheral vision.
Working Conditions

Exposure to loud noise, traffic, moving machinery, vibrations, fumes, chemicals, and airborne particles.
Work in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow).
Continuous work away from branch location along assigned routes.
Occasionally work in elevated or hazardous locations.
