Job Description

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

To assist the mechanics in cleaning equipment and mechanical rooms, greasing motors, pumps, carrying out basic preventative maintenance in all air handling units, pumps, chillers, heat exchangers, compressors, changing filters in all hydronic and air handling systems. To assist the air conditioning/refrigeration mechanics in any air/conditioning equipment or installation to perform preventative or corrective maintenance, removals and testing. To assist the plumbers in repairing plumbing systems and assist in plumbing systems and assist in plumbing installations. To assist the carpenters in carpentry job tasks. To assist the painters in painting job tasks. Monitors equipment operating parameters to ensure safety and efficiency levels. Operates the Hospital's HVAC systems to specified parameters for safety, comfort and client requirements. To perform any other duty as requested by the Manager of Plant Services, the Supervisor Mechanical and Supervisor, Electrical.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have graduated from high school. Enrollment or completion of Building Environmental Systems course is required. Must be mechanically inclined. Must be enrolled, or willing and qualified to be enrolled in an Apprenticeship program as a Facilities Maintenance Technician Must have one year experience working in an Engineering department within a Healthcare facility. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English. Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Proven problem recognition and problem solving skills are required. Demonstrated ability to work as an effective member of a team. Must be physically able to perform the job. Excellent attendance record.

HOURS: Must be willing and available to work 12 hour rotating shifts.
