We are currently seeking a

Heavy Haul Dispatcher

to join our team in Acheson.


Position Summary





The

Heavy Haul Dispatcher

is responsible for coordinating daily operations of our specialized fleet, including multi-axle combinations, winch trucks, picker trucks, hotshots, and pilot trucks. This role ensures efficient scheduling, communication with drivers, accurate documentation, and excellent customer service. The dispatcher plays a key role in supporting safe, compliant transportation of over-dimensional and critical freight.


Key Responsibilities




Plan, schedule, and dispatch heavy haul units for local and long-haul operations across Canada and the U.S. Communicate daily with drivers, customers, permit providers, and internal teams. Review load details, dimensions, weights, and routing requirements before dispatch. Coordinate permits, pilot cars, utility contacts, and route surveys as needed. Monitor and track units throughout the day to ensure on-time performance and proactive issue resolution. Maintain accurate documentation, driver notes, customer updates, and trip details in dispatch systems. Prioritize jobs based on customer needs, equipment availability, and driver hours-of-service. Support after-hours and weekend operations. Ensure all safety policies, regulatory requirements, and company procedures are followed. Build strong relationships with customers by providing professional, timely communication.

Qualifications




Required:




2+ years of transportation dispatch experience (heavy haul or oilfield preferred). Strong knowledge of multi-axle heavy haul equipment, RGN configurations, winch/bed operations, and over-dimensional transport requirements. Familiarity with Western Canada haul corridors and cross-border procedures. Excellent communication skills--clear, professional, and proactive. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and make decisions in a fast-paced environment. Strong computer skills with dispatching software, spreadsheets, email, and logging systems. Understanding of hours-of-service regulations (Canada and U.S.). High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Assets:




Experience with permitting processes (Alberta, BC, U.S. states). Knowledge of specialty loads, mining/energy sector requirements, and route planning. Experience working with pilot trucks, high-load corridors, and utility coordination. Mechanically inclined or familiar with truck/trailer maintenance basics.
