About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Trainer to support our operations by ensuring employees are fully competent and compliant with OHS regulations before starting work. The successful candidate will facilitate, evaluate, and audit training processes to verify that all equipment operators are adequately qualified, suitably trained, and capable of performing their duties safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Facilitate the field portion of employee competency assessments and evaluations. Audit field competency and evaluation processes to ensure full OHS compliance. Train and evaluate workers on various types of heavy equipment to establish skill level and proficiency. Conduct periodic evaluations and refresher training to enhance employee skills and support career growth. Partner with field management to ensure consistent evaluation and training practices. Participate in developing and improving competency, evaluation, and training programs. Provide input on site staffing decisions through knowledge of employee capabilities and pre-start evaluations. Assist in developing policies, procedures, and safe work practices related to equipment and labour operations.

Skills & Qualifications

Proven experience operating heavy equipment, including excavators, dozers, graders, articulating rock trucks, and haul trucks. Strong understanding of heavy civil earthmoving operations and OHS safety regulations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust across all levels of the organization. Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities.

Minimum Requirements

7-10 years of heavy equipment operating experience. Minimum 5 years of mining experience. Valid Class 1 or Class 3 driver's license with a clean commercial abstract.
