Job Description


Afternoon Shift has a $4.00 per hour shift premiumAs a Trailer Mechanic or HET you will be required to perform tasks involving physical labor at our manufacturing plant and will be required to operate a variety of hand and power tools. Responsibilities will include the assembly of trailers using bolts, screws, clips, soldering tools, and assorted fasteners. Responsible for the efficient production of products according to established procedures, following all safety protocols and workplace policies.
Main Responsibilities

Assemble heavy haul transport trailers
Install equipment parts, components or systems
Inspect heavy duty transport trailers for detect faults and malfunctions
Test equipment for proper performance
Air & ABS braking systems
Electrical, Axles, Wheels and Tires
Solid knowledge of brake, air, grease, and electrical systems
Capable of setting ride height control valves and trouble shooting air systems
Suspensions, Chassis and frame
Completing written work orders and associated paperwork in an accurate and timely manner

Secondary Responsibilities

Keep equipment cleaned, lubricated and maintained
Develop and maintain a regular cleaning schedule to ensure the shop is kept tidy and well organized upon completion of work assignments
Ensure racking is kept in an order that work orders are easily accessible
Attend toolbox meeting prior to shift

Attributes and Skills

Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and other technical diagrams.
Critical eye for identifying defects.
Proactive in ensuring job knowledge is current.
Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods, and the tools required in various assembly processes.
Strong working mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Able to work autonomously and uses good decision-making practices.
Organizational, planning and time management skills.
Quality Management.
Good written and verbal communication skills

Qualifications

2-7 years\' experience in HET or heavy haul trailer assembly
Journeyman Trailer Mechanic is an asset

Physical Requirements

Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs - fitness test required
Standing on your feet for a long period of time
Have good eye to hand coordination
Be able to bend, crouch and kneel for extended periods
Ability to wear personal protective gear most of the day

Working Conditions

The work performed is carried out indoors in a regulated environment
Regular exposure to industrial shop hazards which require additional protection from noise, fall hazards and air quality. Safety boots must be worn.
Regular fast pace or work with tight deadlines
A medium stress environment due to timelines

Shift Availability

Days - Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
Afternoons - Monday - Thursday 4:00pm - 2:30am ($4.00 shift premium)
