As our Heavy Equipment Technician you\'ll play an integral role in performing major diagnostics and major repairs and servicing all equipment in fleet with minimal supervision. You are responsible for providing the highest quality of service and complying with the company\'s established policies and procedures. This position may be responsible for developing and coaching apprentices. This position is primarily for Metso equipment and the successful applicant will reside in the Prince George area.

This is a full-time, permanent position paying $50.96 and all overtime is double time We offer a competitive compensation package, which includes full health and dental, plus a company sponsored RRSP plan of $3.50/hour. Your area of work will lie between Prince Rupert and Fort St John and you\'ll have the privilege of seeing beautiful areas and meeting new people. We would like our successful applicant to live in Prince George for logistical reasons, but we will consider other locations in the Prince George area.

  • Certification. You have done the hard work and training required to earn certification as a Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician and you\'re ready to apply all that you have learned to make Great West Equipment your customers\' first choice.
  • Critical Thinking. You cut to the chase by collecting and examining technical information and make decisions on what is relevant in order to pinpoint issues with mechanical systems. You will have an in-depth understanding of diagnostic tools, how to access product information, and you\'ll be proficient in providing solutions to problems in a timely manner with minimal assistance. As well you will thrive on the challenge of troubleshooting and possess the ability to read various system diagrams
  • Experience. Previous Metso experience would be great, but we realize this is a specialty and we are happy to train the right person who is a great fit . You will also be required to work on other off-road equipment from time to time, and we\'re counting on you to bring this type of experience with you.
  • Keeping Your Cool. You may occasionally need to work under pressure while maintaining a strong focus on quality service. This can be a physical job with heavy lifting and carrying. The pace can be fast, the hours can be long during busy cycles and you may also need to work overtime. You will also realize that you need to recharge regularly \xe2\x80\x93 we insist that you take your vacation time!
  • Mentorship. Listen actively and perform competence analysis of apprentice technicians. Identify areas for them to improve and provide on the job training to assist in their development.
  • Self Motivated. The successful applicant will be part of our incredible Aggregate Team. While you will have the support of our parts, sales, service and administrative members remotely, you will need to be a self-starter who tackles tasks head on, with the ability to find solutions and problem solve.
  • Safety Minded. First and foremost \xe2\x80\x93 you work safely, following all safety programs and procedures \xe2\x80\x93 every time. We have adopted best practices when developing our systems and procedures and you\'ll become a champion for consistently staying in the lines.
  • Organization. This is a detail-oriented position and you have already developed personal systems for organizing your work, ensuring you are prepared with information, parts and specialty tooling prior to attending a worksite.
