Great West Equipment has exciting opportunities for a qualified Heavy Equipment Technician at the following branches:

Cranbrook, B.C.:

2401 Cranbrook Street N.

Cranbrook, B.C.

Servicing Kootenay-Columbia Region

Duties:

  • Perform service, repair and diagnostic and preventative maintenance to equipment
  • Perform procurement of parts and materials
  • Diagnose, recondition and repair all equipment components and systems as assigned by supervisor
  • Complete reports and documentation as required, maintain good records
  • Assist with coaching and development of apprentices
Compensation:
  • $50.96 per hour
  • All overtime is double time

General:
  • This is a full-time, permanent position, minimum 40 hours per week
  • Occasional overtime may be required
  • Work may take place in the shop, yard or in the field at mine sites, logging sites, construction sites, pipelines in the Kootenay/Columbia region
  • Work may occasionally require employees to be in the field for extended periods of 2 - 14 days.
  • Language of work is English
Experience Required:
  • 1+ years related experience post certification
  • Knowledge of Volvo equipment systems and repairs is an asset
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications
  • Experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic at a dealership would be an asset
  • Committed to continuous learning
  • Strong technical background and capable of effective communication with technicians and customers regarding parts and service
  • Dedicated to working safely
Education Required:
  • Successful completion of Heavy Equipment Technician Apprenticeship and achievement of Journeyperson status (Interprovincial Red Seal)
