Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and reliable

Heavy Equipment Operator/Labourer

with experience in excavating and general construction tasks. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating a skid-steer, excavator, and a small dump truck, while also assisting with concrete, asphalt, and traffic sign assembly. Attention to detail, knowledge of construction practices, and the ability to work in a fast-paced outdoor environment are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare job sites by excavating existing materials and dumping waste at designated locations. Arrange construction traffic signs according to specified plans. Assist in demolishing, forming and finishing concrete surfaces. Assist in demolishing, grading and tamping asphalt surfaces. Operate skid-steer for transportation of materials. Ensure all work meets local building codes, safety regulations, and company standards. Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas. Work collaboratively with laborers, site supervisors, and other trades as needed.

Qualifications:

Minimum 2-3 years of experience in heavy equipment operating. Knowledge of concrete and asphalt processes. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and job specifications. Familiarity with safety procedures and ability to work safely around moving equipment and traffic. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on feet for extended periods. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites.

Preferred Assets:

Experience with skid-steers, excavators, and dump trucks. WHMIS, Fall Protection, or other construction-related certifications. Ability to lead small crews or train junior workers.

Working Conditions:

Outdoor work in various weather conditions. Possible overtime and weekend work depending on project schedules. Standing, bending, lifting, and kneeling for long periods.
